MERRY CHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas to everyone!!!!

We had a great time hosting the party at our place. There was plenty of food and drink, and heaps of fun and laughter. As usual, the day started off so well and ended up with lots of hilarious drunken antics.....as the pictures shows. But all in all it was a fantastic day shared with friends and loved ones.

Little Princess Adrianne with her daddy Foo.

The Boys...... Foo holding Steve and Eden captive with his new fluffy boxing gloves.... lol!!!

Below, Foo trying to flex his muscles, however he was no match for Vassy. Actually, they are a very loving couple.... honest!!!!

Foo and Vassy showing it's not all blood and tears, but making up that's the best part of it.....lol!!!

Below, Eden showing why he's the guru of style and class. While Frankie, afraid people will associate her to Eden, looks for a place to hide. There's no-where to hide girl..... face it, your stuck with him. I'll pray for you... hehehehe.

Even Adrianne, thought the way we adults behaved all night was silly and very funny.

Then the cards came out. Somehow it hadn't occurred to these guys that people just don't play cards on their foreheads..... especially when there is so much glass at our place, making it so easy to cheat.

Of course, Christmas isn't Christmas without a game of charades. Frankie and I made a great team. While Steve and Eden left us in stitches, especially Eden's "pilgrim" descriptions.

Dubai Ski Slope

We finally went to find out if the Dubai Ski Slope was all it was hyped up to be. "'WE HAD A BALL". Granted, there were only 2 runs and smaller than the real ski slopes, but these were preludes to more exciting skiing holidays to come. Just to be able to snow ski in the middle of Dubai's hot sandy desert conditions is amazing.

(Left picture- view looking down to the bottom of the slope) (Right picture-view looking up the slope)

Eden, Steve and I were at the ski slope from 8-10pm and left blazing trails on the ski slopes. We left everyone else in our dust.

On one of the trips down, Eden fortunately had the foresight to skillfully jump with his snowboard still on when Steve came ploughing down the mountain forgetting how to slow down. It was a very close moment, there could have been blood and tears...hehehehe! Someone was told off by the slope marshall for speeding.....I wonder who?????

Surprisingly, the ski slope was very well organised. Beginning to end the entire experience was very smooth. Luckily for us there wasn't that many people skiing, so we pretty much had the slopes to ourselves.

Judging by the faces on the boys, I think they had a great time!!!

Friday with Friends

Another night out at PeanutButter Jam last friday. A relaxed evening with old and new friends listening to all the Jazz bands doing their thing.

At the end of the evening Steve was up to his old antics again. He managed to convince himself he was superman and executed a perfect 10 dive onto the mountain of beanbags. However the landing wasn't so perfect...hehehehe!

Back to School

For all those who were wondering....no we're not going back to study. DESS (Dubai English Speaking School), where Natalie works yesterday had their yearly fundraising fete and we were there to show our support. But really, we just wanted to be BIG kids again, eat hotdogs and go on the bouncy castle (Steve more than I).

Girls Nite Out!

Girls night out is when we ladies get the chance to leave our husbands and kids at home and get to enjoy a night out drinking lots, eating lots and chatting and laughing non stop. We got the chance to do this again last Sunday at Traders Vic at the Madinat.

This lovely ritual started off with 3, Vassy, Frankie and I. We decided to get together without the boys and realised before we knew it, we had sat down at 8pm and chatted non-stop until midnite. Boy did we have a great time!!! This night out we welcomed a Dubai new comer, Anke. Who I hope also had a great time. So girls.....when's the next night out?

Christmas is almost here!!!

Christmas is one of the best times of the year. Where we can all be children again and get caught up in the whole atmosphere. Where we can eat food we normally wouldn't eat during the year and drink copious amounts of alcohol until we pass out. And not to forget remembering loved ones as we open our presents on Christmas Day morning.

We were eager to get all the christmas decorations up. So we trotted of to Karama to purchase all our decorations and of course our 7ft high tree. To make a special evening of it, we popped a Christmas CD on and sang along to the christmas songs while sipping our gin and tonics as we made pitiful attempts at decorating the tree. Not enough practise....I say!!!

Luckily we had two extra little helpers. And Santa even put in a surprise appearance. (Does anyone recognise the nose?)

Memoirs of a Geisha

They have finally translated this fantastic book into a movie. Judging from the trailers the movie will be visiually spectacular and includes a star cast, Zhang Ziyi as the geisha girl, Michelle Yeoh, Ken Watanabe and Gong Li the arch rival to name a few.

For those who haven't read the book. The movie is based on the internationally acclaimed novel by Arthur Golden. Memoirs of a Geisha is a sweeping romantic epic set in a mysterious and exotic world that still casts a potent spell today.

The story begins in the years before WWII when a penniless Japanese child named Chiyo is torn from her family to work as a maid in a geisha house. There she is subjected to cruel treatment from the owners and the head geisha Hatsumomo. Her stunning beauty attracts the vindictive jealousy of others, until Chiyo is rescued by and taken under the wings of her tormentor's bitter rival, Mameha. Under Mameha's mentorship, Chiyo becomes the geisha named Syuri, trained in all the artistic and social skills a geisha must master in order to survive and be the best in her society. As a renowned geisha she enters a society of wealth, privilage and political intrigue. As World War II looms, Japan and the geisha's world are forever changed by the onslaught of history, and throughout all this Syuri's never ending quest for her one true love.

The official US release of the Memoirs of a Geisha move trailer has been launched online. Click the below image to view the offical website. Can't wait for the December release date.

See You Both Soon.

Steve's mum and dad returned to the UK today. The 2 weeks they'd been here has flown by so quickly that before we knew it, it was time for goodbyes. But to celebrate Steve's mum and dad's last day in Dubai, we had the must do BBQ, a trip to the Dubai Ski Slope and the pre-requisite fire works. As we were driving back from the ski slope the fire works started raining down over the buildings at the Marina. It was a gorgeous sight.

We hope Steve's mum and dad had a great trip and that they didn't miss us here in Dubai too much when they get back to the cold winter in the UK, heard it's about 2 degrees..... brrrrrrrhhhhhhh!!!!

Dubai....Where dreams do come true!

Dubai is growing at such a rapid rate. It's not surprising to hear the officials come up with new and amazing ideas. A few of them are already being built on reclaimed land just off the shore of Dubai. These massive developments had seemed too crazy to come to reality, but true to Dubai style here are a sneak look at them. These are all aerial views captured from a helicopter.

The Palm Islands are three artificial islands in the shape of palm trees. They will shelter nearly 500 apartments, 2 000 villas, 25 hotels and 200 shops of luxury. Palm Jumeirah, the most advanced, will be completed as of the end of 2005. Hundred twenty-five kilometers of additional coast will be thus created.

Also under construction is The World, made up of nearly 300 artifical islands The World can be seen from the sky and will form a planisphere. To acquire one of these islands, it would cost between 6.2 to 36.7 million dollars. If you have a few spare cash hanging about you'll need to hurry as Australia and a couple of other islands have already been sold!!!! To think could be neighbours with Rod Stewart, apparently he's bought Scotland.
